As I add content to this site, I will also update this glossary to serve as a reference for readers unfamiliar with the meaning and usage of Buddhist terminology.  I will also provide links in the Resources page to other glossaries as I find them.

Avalokiteshvara- Sk., Pa. the Buddha of Compassion, worshiped primarily in Mahayana Buddhism.

Buddha (general use)- Sk., Pa. a fully enlightened or awakened being, one who is free from dukkha.

Butsu- Jp. see Buddha.

Dukkha– used in the Four Noble Truths, often translated ‘suffering,’ but captures varieties of mental, physical, and existential unrest.
